I'm sipping from my first bottle of Ponce La Casilla 2015, and I must say it is big – but not overpowering – and truly juicy; just delightful. According to The Wine Advocate’s Luis Gutiérrez, “I tasted two vintages of La Casilla;… The 2015 was riper and juicier, even if it's only 13% alcohol. It also has a very Mediterranean profile, with balsamic aromas of thyme and rosemary and touches of fennel and licorice, and very polished tannins and a chalky texture, combining ripeness with minerality.” I got the wine on sale for about $13, which is a genuine bargain. Regrettably, little of it is now available and, where it is, the asking price is about $20. However, the 2016 is available (at about the same price), but it is a better wine, Gutiérrez bestowing a mammoth 93 point rating. The 2017 also is available, also is rated 93, but it can be had for $19. Splurge! This is really good juice. Should go great with lamb.
