This marvelous wine almost demands the accompaniment of a few real logs in the fireplace, a cold winter’s night, and some comfortable seating or room to sprawl. In our house, the first sip garnered multiple WOWs. Big, Luscious. Fruity. Plus the accompaniment of a little vanilla/oakiness. According to International Wine Report (IWR), “The 2020 High Roller Cabernet begins with aromas of red currants and ripe plums woven together with sweet spices, licorice and hints of pepper which all take shape in this pretty Cabernet Sauvignon. This possesses a medium-full body with silky, polished tannins with a juicy finish.” IWR rated it 90 points and estimated its maturity through 2026. According to a World Market reviewer, “A dynamic blend of bold ripe fruit, chocolate and spice, this California Cab from Paso Robles bursts with juicy red berry and cherry flavors. Velvety tannins and pleasant mouthfeel make this intriguing red wine a sure bet. Serve it alongside red meat and games of chance.” Most places that carry the wine have sold out, even at $20 per bottle. At this writing, Wine Library offers the best deal: $12.99/bottle.
