According to Natalie Maclean, “Knappstein 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is excellent value at $20. Dry, full-bodied with pure cassis, dark cherry, minty and dark chocolate flavours finishing long with ripe dark berry fruit vibrant on the palate. Tannins are polished. Drink or hold.” She gave it 91 points, an excellent score.
From Wine Selectors: “Fruit is grown on Knappstein's Yertabulti and Provis vineyards, situated at the northern end of the Clare Valley, which provides the ideal climate for quality fruit production. Deep, dark red to black. Sweet dark berry fruit with chocolatey oak, herb and spice notes. Ripe and fleshy with curranty fruit intensity and varietal herbaceousness, underlying peppery spice notes, youthful tannins and balanced oak.
And from James Suckling: “This looks very pure and has bright cassis and black cherries, as well as some leafy elements and a very resolved, complete palate that has polished tannins and a juicy dark-fruit core." He rated the wine at 93 points. (Wow!)
