The 2019 vintage of this beauty may be available by the time you read this, but – even so – the 2018 should get you through the spring and summer in good shape. Charles Smith’s Kung Fu Girl Riesling is a fabulous white wine; a genuine crowd pleaser if ever there was one. The Wine Advocate reviewers consistently rate it 90 points, as does yours truly. I haven’t had the 2018 yet; I’m still working on my last three bottles of the 2017 vintage, but my guess is that it provides everything Charles Smith says it will: white peach, mandarin orange, and apricot are delivered with a core of minerality that makes this dry Riesling shimmer with energy and freshness. As for the price, as little as $8 per bottle.
