Here’s the review by Invino, an online retailer I rely on frequently: “If this sounds simply too good to be true . . . I’m with you. I double and triple-checked this…94 POINTS? Under $15? It just didn’t seem possible. And this isn’t some backwoods, Bob’s wine reviews, either! Sam Kim’s Wine Orbit is like the Robert Parker of Down Under – been around forever, eminently respected, and, all-in-all . . . kind of a big deal! We scored on this stunning Barossa Valley cabernet sauvignon – now it’s your turn!
The 2021 vintage of this beauty has not yet been reviewed. Here’s what Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate reviewer Luis Gutiérrez had to say about the 2020 version: “The incredibly young and juicy 2020 Garnacha was produced with grapes from different villages, Corella, Cintruénigo, Fitero and Lerga, hence a regional blend that for the first time contains grapes from the cooler Lerga that adds lower pH, more freshness and complexity to the blend. They do a soft extraction in stainless steel using 20% full clusters and indigenous yeasts, achieving a wine with moderate alcohol (13.47%) and good freshness (pH 3.47). I felt like the wine had gone one step up in complexity and depth from the previous vintage; it’s precise, harmonious, elegant, and nuanced and keeps varietal purity. It’s medium-bodied and has very fine tannins with herbal freshness, reminiscent of acid berries and bay leaf. This is a steal! One to buy by the case… 137,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in February 2021.” The 2021 vintage is just as good as the 2020 if not even better. It should be drinking well into 2025. It’s retail price is an absurd $14. I’ve seen online offerings as low as $9.29. Pour a bottle into a beautiful decanter and tell people you got it at the ridiculous low price of $28. They’ll nod their heads as a “well-worth-the-price” gesture.
