This is a small-production wine, explaining why it wound up in the hands of just a few reviewers. One of them was Decanter, the UK publication. It didn’t have much to say, but its review was pithy: “A simmering nose of juicy strawberries, crunchy raspberries and vibrant plums. Youthful and expressive with stylish, chiseled tannins, a refreshing acidity, and a lovely pure finish.” And the rating? How about an almost-off-the-charts 95 points! WOW! The winemaker had some comments, too: “An expressive nose with delicate floral notes of peony and aromas of cherry and strawberry. Fresh on the palate, with fine grained tannins, this wine is a harmonious marriage of Syrah and Grenache. The finish is long with a hint of menthol.” And that, in essence, was what I experienced. It’s available from several online sources for a penny under $15, which is pretty good. Just Google “Domaine de l’Amandine Cotes du Rhone Villages Seguret 2021 $”.
