I hadn’t tasted this lovely Italian blend before, but the low price – probably accompanied by free shipping – made me want to give it a try. There was also the review by Wine Advocate critic Monica Larner, who is most definitely not known for “easy grading.” Her comments: “The vivid 2018 DiMartina is a blend of equal parts Barbera, Nebbiolo, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. It offers beautiful intensity and a lovely, fruit-forward personality. At its core, the wine reveals cherry fruit with delicate contours of rose hip, dried blueberries and blue flowers. There are subtle touches of spice and sweet almond. There is enough extra richness and fruity fiber to pair with thin cuts of roast beef or other light meat dishes. Only 5,000 bottles were released.” Monica rated the wine 90+ (which means she believes it’s really good!) and said it would be drinking well through 2024. The price? Buckle up: As of this writing, as low as $10.95.
